General Payments - What are Disputed transactions and Chargebacks?

A chargeback is the means by which a card issuer can reclaim funds on behalf of a cardholder in respect of a transaction that has been processed by a merchant.  This may occur if the cardholder or card issuer disputes the  validity  of  a  transaction.  When  a  transaction  is disputed the card issuer and  ÍâÍø½ûÇø operate to clearly defined  Card  Scheme  regulated  procedures  to  manage  the  dispute  and  establish  whether  funds should  be  retained  by  the  merchant  or  returned  to  the cardholder.

General Payments - What is PCI DSS?

The Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS) is a comprehensive set of international security requirements to help protect cardholder data. The PCI DSS was developed by Visa and the founding payment brands  of  the  PCI  Security  Standards  Council  to  help facilitate the broad adoption of consistent data security measures  on  a  global  basis.  The  PCI  DSS  consists  of twelve basic requirements. These requirements are the foundation  of  data  security  compliance  programme known  as  the  Account  Information  Security  (AIS) Program. All acquirers and  card issuers must  comply, and must also  ensure  the  compliance  of  their  merchants  and service providers who store, process, or transmit credit card account numbers. This programme applies to all payment  channels  including  card-present, mail/telephone order, and E-commerce.
